Writings referred to in the Bible but not included in it.

The following table is a work in progress.  It lists writings referred to in the Bible that are not included in the Bible.  After spending a few days on the beginning of this project, it became quite obvious to me that that Bible is by no means a “complete” compilation, for the Bible itself refers to writings that are not found within it.  And many (if not most) of these references seem at first blush to be references to other inspired/authorized works.

I apologize for the raw nature of the data below.  I hope to be able to work it into a more convenient format soon.

No mention of the Book of Life is made in the Bible outside this passage and 5 mentions in the Revelation. "The Third Heaven"2 Corinthians 12:22 Corinthians 12:2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows such a one was caught up to the third heaven. "Third Heaven" is mentioned nowhere else in the Bible.
Angels who did not keep their proper domainJude 1:6Jude 1:6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; Where is this mentioned in the "Old Testament", unless in Genesis 6?

Angels who sinned2 Peter 2:42 Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;Where is the sin of angels mentioned in the "Old Testament"?
Noah as a preacher of righteousness2 Peter 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; No mention of Noah preaching is found in the "Old Testament".
One day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years are as one day2 Peter 3:82 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Where had this previously been taught that it should not be forgotten?
What commandments Paul gave the Thessalonians1 Thessalonians 4:21 Thessalonians 4:2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. We don't know what these were.
About the "son of perdition", the "man of sin"2 Thessalonians 2:3-52 Thessalonians 2: 3. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4. who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
This passage is very likely not the full record of what Paul told them. "Man of sin" appears nowhere else in the Bible. "Son of Perdition" is a reference made to Judas by Jesus in John 17:12. It occurs nowhere else.
"what is restraining"2 Thessalonians 2:62 Thessalonians 2:6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.We do not know what the Thessalonians knew about this. I find no obvious reference to "restraining" in the "OT", unless it is to God waiting to rise up and exercise judgment on the wicked. Yet it seems unlikely that Paul would be referring to God himself being "taken out of the way". Indeed, who would take God out of the way?
The Lawless One2 Thessalonians 2:8-2 Thessalonians 2: 8. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
9. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
"Lawless One" occurs nowhere else in the Bible
If anyone will not work, neiher shall he eat2 Thessalonians 3:102 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. We do not see this command written anywhere else. Had it not been mentioned here in passing, how would we ever know that this command existed?
The Antichrist (and "many antichrists)1 John 2:181 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. Nowhere outside John's epistles there there any mention of "antichrist", whether "the" or "many". Yet they had already "heard" of this. Was this in a preivous writing of John? Or was the term "antichrist" synonymous with other terms that were already in use? Would that have been understood? If so, how? Is this "the lawless one" or "the man of sin" or "the son of perdition"? Not even in his own Revelation does John use the word antichrist
Reference to a previous letter from John?1 John 2:261 John 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.
An annointing that teaches1 John 2:20-271 John 2: 20. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
21. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. ........27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
No other such annointing is mentioned anywhere in the Bible
The hope of eternal life, promised before time beganTitus 1:2Titus 1:2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, Where is this promise recorded, and to whom was it made?
Jannes and Jambres opposing Moses2 Timothy 3:82 Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; Neither name appears elsewhere in the Bible
Many NarrativesLuke 1:1-4Luke 1: 1. Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2. just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, 3. it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4. that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed. How many? Is 3 "many"?, for there are only 3 other gospels in the Bible.
Many other thingsJohn 21:25John 21:25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. John certainly does not say that many other books were written, but this statement is a good reminder that 4 small gospels are hardly sufficient to record the fullness of Jesus' actions.
Sign "King of the Jews"Matthew 27:37 , Mark 15:26 , Luke 23:3 , John 19:19Matthew 27:37 And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Mark 15:26 And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS. Luke 23:38 And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. John 19:19 Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: Jesus of Nazareth, The King of the Jews.
Casting out of DemonsMatthew 12:27Matthew 12:27 "And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. There is no account of the method by which the Pharisees cast out demons. There is no instruction for this in the Bible--no other mention of it in the "Old Testament".
"In remembrance of me"1 Corinthians 11:251 Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.'' The highlighted section is not recorded in the gospels.
"Awake, you who sleep…"Ephesians 5:14Ephesians 5:14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.'' Not found in "OT"
"Scripture of Truth"Daniel 10:21Daniel 10:21 "But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth. (No one upholds me against these, except Michael your prince.
Gap--end Mt 2 to beginning Mt 3Matthew 3:1Matthew 2:21.  Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.  22.  But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.  23.  And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene.''  1.  In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,  2.  and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!'' John did not begin preaching when Jesus was a "young child". Therefore, this is either a textual corruption, a bad translation, or there is a section missing from the text.
